Purchasing a new frame not only requires a lot of research of reviews and specifications, but one must also find a heroic event in cycling history that involved the frame. This event is key during interval training and early morning rides when motivating oneself to pedal when logic provides no reason to be on the bike. My Wilier cento uno sl was under Alessandro Ballan when he disregarded logic and attacked from a break with a few kilometers remaining in the 2008 world championship.

LANEWWINTERTRAINER

 

Introducing the new winter trainer: The Lapierre HM X-Lite CX Francaise de Jeux Team Bike.  A cyclocross bike with road geometry makes for a true cross bike. With full fenders and fat tires this will serve as a super Chicago Winter / Spring trainer and transition to a bad-ass gravel race machine and finally back to a cross machine in the fall. It is pictured here looking comfortable in a Shackleton-esque Chicago Lakefront setting. A special thanks to the Saj and Michael from Get a Grip Cycles for sorting out the build.
